Do any of your products contain Aristolochia or aristolochic acid?

Side effects relating to some varieties of the Aristolochia species under certain conditions have been documented since the early 1990's. Herbs containing these compounds are primarily used in China and have been banned in many countries of the world, including the United States.

We’d like to assure you: ORGANIC INDIA does not use any of the Aristolochia species of herbs, or herbs containing aristolochic acid, in any of our products.

Are your products Kosher?

All of our products are certified Kosher except for Chyawanprash. The ghee used in Chyawanprash comes from a farm that is not certified Kosher.

Are your products gluten-free?

Yes, all of products including teas, supplements and psyllium are gluten-free.

How many tea bags are in each box?


Do you have a printed catalog?

No we do not. Printed catalogs require too much natural resource to produce, and cannot be updated as we launch new products or add information to existing ones. This website lists all of the products that we carry.

Can you recommend a product for a particular ailment or illness?

Unfortunately we cannot. We are not doctors and therefore cannot provide diagnoses. Please consult your health care practitioner.

How much caffeine is in your tea?

Most of our teas are caffeine-free. Several do have caffeine, as follows:

  • Tulsi India Breakfast Tea: 25 mg/serving

  • Tulsi Green Tea: 12 mg/serving
  • Tulsi Pomegranate Green Tea: 10 mg/serving
  • Tulsi Chai Masala Tea - boxed: 12 mg/serving
  • Tulsi Chai Masala Tea - 1 lb: 20 mg/serving

How long should the tea be steeped?

We recommend steeping our teas for 3-5 minutes. However, longer steeping times will release more of the herbs' nutritional and healing properties. Some people steep Tulsi tea for up to 20 minutes.

How secure is your website?

These days, internet security is a big deal and consumers are, and should be, concerned about it. We are frequently asked about the security of organicindiausa.com.

Internet security is a large, complex and constantly changing field, and we let the professionals handle it. ORGANIC INDIA USA does not host our own website. This means that we do not have a computer at our office that runs the website. We actually “rent” our website from BigCommerce.com. Big Commerce is one of the largest providers of e-commerce websites, with over 33,000 sites. E-commerce websites is all they do, and they do it well. In brief, Big Commerce lists the following protocols on their website:

  • “...hosted on our lightning-fast SAS 70 Type II certified servers. Our data center employs hacker deterrent security provisioning, three redundant network architectures and hardware firewalls.”
  • “All Bigcommerce stores are automatically PCI compliant, and our entire network is independently audited against stringent PCI security standards every three months. We're proud to be featured on both Visa and Mastercard's lists of PCI-compliant providers.”

Big Commerce provides connections with PayPal, USPS and FedEx. Our customers' transactions are handled entirely by Big Commerce and these other providers.

In the case of PayPal, the transaction occurs on PayPal's servers and only tells our website if the transaction has been approved or not. We have no control over PayPal's processing, which means that we have no visibility into our customer's account numbers, passwords, or other transaction details other than the amount.

Credit card transactions are a little different. The customer enters their credit card on our website, but that data is encrypted and immediately sent to our credit card processor, Authorize.net. We have no way of recording or even viewing a customer's credit card number. We can process refunds through Authorize.net, but even then we can't see the credit card number. Once Authorize.net charges the card, it tells our website that the transaction was successful and your order is processed.

Our website also does not permit the storage of customers' credit cards. While this may seem to be an inconvenience, it is done solely for the protection of our customers' identities and information.
