Fiber is essential for a healthy body. In fact, most adults require 32 grams of fiber each day to maintain digestive health, regularity, a healthy weight, and most importantly, a healthy heart! However, most Americans only get about half this amount in their diet, and usually less.
This lack of fiber in the typical American diet may contribute to the rising rates of heart disease, obesity, and digestive problems that plague the country. Taking a fiber supplement like psyllium each day is the easy way to ensure you are getting all you need to maintain your health. The only drawback? Unlike your fruits, vegetables and grains, fiber supplements are not certified organic... Until now!
Introducing ORGANIC INDIA's Certified Organic Psyllium
There are two types of fiber: Soluble and insoluble.
Soluble fiber absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance which entraps food, sugars, cholesterol and fats in the stomach and carries them through the digestive tract.
Psyllium is a great source of soluble fiber!
Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water. It moves through your digestive system quickly and mostly in tact, acting as a bulking agent and improving regularity.
Psyllium is one of the only fiber supplements that contains a beneficial amount of both soluble and insoluble fiber!
Fiber has no calories because it is not digestible and is not absorbed into the body.
Most animal products including meat, eggs, milk and cheese don't contain any fiber.
Fiber offers many health benefits, especially the fiber found in psyllium! Not only does the insoluble fiber in psyllium act as a bulking agent to improve digestive regularity, its soluble fiber content blocks fat and cholesterol absorption, making it essential to heart health.
Filling up on high fiber foods or taking psyllium as a fiber supplement may also help you feel full for a longer period of time and leave you with less room for less healthy food options.
ORGANIC INDIA was the first company to produce and market organic psyllium.
We have advanced cleaning techniques that allow us to do what was once thought impossible - produce certified organic psyllium!
We use a dry steam process to clean our organic psyllium. Conventional psyllium is commonly cleaned via a fumigation process using methyl bromide, then sterilized with ethylene oxide.
We use organic crop rotation practices. Conventional crops are commonly rotated with castor, cumin, mustard, and wheat, which are treated with chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. These pesticides are hazardous to the health of farmers and increase chemical toxicity in soil, water and air.
Every purchase of ORGANIC INDIA psyllium contributes to the sustainable livelihood of the family farmers we work with in India!
