Ashwagandha supports endurance, calm strength, and enduring vitality. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an adaptogenic herb, helping the body adapt to stress. It is a rejuvenating herb, helping to balance endocrine functions, including adrenal, thyroid and reproductive functions.
Ashwagandha contains phyto-androgens, which are precursors to reproductive hormones and supports reproductive health for men and women. Active constituents are slightly sedative in nature and calm the nervous system.
Overall, Ashwagandha helps support a healthy immune system and rebuilds the body’s energy reserves.
"In a world where eighty percent of all disease can be attributed to stress it is not surprising that we are attracted to the Ayurvedic herb, Ashwaganda. This amazing herb neither stimulates nor sedates, it offers a deep rejuvenation to the whole body and mind that no herb has yet to match."
-- Dr. John Douillard, Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Founder/Director of LifeSpa*
Called "Indian Ginseng" Ashwagandha now has the medical community buzzing and studies showing the positive effects of Ashwagandha are cropping up all over. We use only organically grown Ashwagandha root (Winter Cherry) in its pure, revitalizing form. It offers powerful nutritional support to rejuvenate both mind and body, by nourishing the nervous system, minimizing the negative effects of stress, increasing endurance and stamina and fighting insomnia.
"While most adaptogens are stimulants in disguise, Ashwaganda can give the energy in the morning to run a marathon and taken before bed, put you to sleep like a baby." -- Dr. John Douillard*

|Traditional Uses||Optimizing & Complementary Products||Notes|

||Triterpenoid saponins are known to be strong adaptogens. Often used as a standard in testing the efficacy of other adaptogens.|
|Immunity||Tulsi-Holy Basil, Amalaki, Immunity Formula||Ashwagandha is a key ingredient in many traditional immunity formulas as it boosts immune response and supports a terrain unsuitable for infections.|
|Men's Wellness/Libido||Shatavari||Alone or combined with Shatavri, Guduchi and Mucuna pruriens, Ashwagandha has solidified men's wellness, balanced hormones and bolstered libido for thousands of years.|
|Women's Wellness||Shatavari||Helps balance hormones in many situations. Combines so well with Shatavri that most herbalists always use these two herbs together.|
|Sleep||As its Latin binomial suggests, Ashwagandha has thousands of years of use as a stable support for sleep as it calms by strengthening nerves, heart and Shen/spirit.|
A given herb tends to be best from a particular area, like French Highland Lavender. In the case of Ashwagandha, many experts would agree that area would be Bundelkhand. ORGANIC INDIA uses the thickest of the organic Bundelkhand Ashwagandha roots that we grow and process ourselves.
Whole herb: The full spectrum of herbal constituents creates the plant's intelligence, effectiveness and health benefits. It cannot be improved on by extracting one chemical substance.
Certified organic: Potent, pure and effective, 100% certified organic, grown in healthy, fertile soil. No harmful chemicals used ever during the growing, drying or production.
Vegetarian capsules: Did you know gelatin capsules are made from animal parts? They are made from animal by-products, which include cow, horse and/or pig hides and various kinds of connective tissues such as tendons, bones, ligaments, organs and some intestines.
"Commercially, standardized extracts are used offering the consumer a supposedly more potent product. Beware! These extracts concentrate the herb highlighting only one of its many active constituents rendering it more like a drug than a natural medicine. In this process, the intelligence of the herb, the full spectrum of botanical constituents and its therapeutic effect is lost."

“Ashwa” means horse or stallion. “Gandha” means fragrance or earthy, “gan” means to value, “dha” means to bestow. So Ashwagandha means the “the rooted power of a horse” or “being strong and valuable like a stallion.”

Ashwagandha is amazing. I started using it about a year ago to help support sleep. I stopped taking it a few months ago, and started having low energy and insomnia again. I started taking it again recently and I feel back to normal!

This is a wonderful supplement. It not only helps me to get better sleep, but also helps me with handling stress and I feel more energetic when I take it. I really notice a difference when I don't take it!

Ashwaganda is the best supplement around for calming nerves and 'taking the edge off'. I use it routinely at bedtime to help me go to sleep easily and stay asleep through the night. It is encouraging to know that Organic India's product is indeed organic.
