It may still feel like—or officially be—summer, but no sooner are schools back in session than sneak peeks of seasonal sensitivities that seem to manifest at every turn. It’s never too early to support your body’s natural defenses. On the contrary, it’s always a good time to take time for whole body health. With our ORGANIC INDIA Tulsi Original tea as a base, this potent, power-packed immunity elixir pulls out all the stops.

For centuries, herbalism has been considered a wellspring of health throughout the world. In Indian tradition, herbs have been revered for thousands of years for their role in supporting mind, body and spirit. Of the multitudinous herbal allies, Tulsi (Holy Basil) is one of the most standout. Also known as “Queen of Herbs,” Tulsi is celebrated in India for its robust adaptogenic properties, not least its ability to help combat daily stressors, restore inner peacefulness, and uplift the day, caffeine-free.

A perfect wellness-boosting partner for Tulsi, Neem has been used extensively in Eastern traditions to support immunity, natural detoxification, and natural beauty support. Also known as Indian Lilac, Neem is best known for its nourishing support of healthy skin, an active immune organ. Neem lends an earthy touch of bitterness that is balanced by a little maple syrup or Manuka honey—the result carries notes that are effective, yet soothing. You can feel the liquid getting to work!

Rounding out this immune-supportive concoction are piquant ginger and woodsy Turmeric; a splash of age-old home remedy apple cider vinegar; a squeeze of Vitamin-C rich lemon; and, if desired, a pinch of cayenne for an extra kick. Feel free to enjoy as a proper cup of tea, or go with the lower amount of water and less for a quick, more concentrated dose, and be well!

Tulsi Immunity Elixir with Neem

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ to 2 Cups boiled water
  • 2-3 ORGANIC INDIA Tulsi Original tea bags
  • ½ inch piece of ginger root, peeled and sliced
  • ½ inch piece of turmeric root, peeled and sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Teaspoon ORGANIC INDIA Neem
  • Pinch of cayenne, optional
  • 1-2 Teaspoons manuka honey or maple syrup, optional
  • Lemon and orange slices, basil, optional to serve

Method:

  1. Steep the ORGANIC INDIA tea bags, ginger root, and turmeric root in the boiled water, at least 10 minutes. 
  2. Remove the tea bags and whisk in lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, ORGANIC INDIA Neem, cayenne, and sweetener to taste. 
  3. Strain and divide into serving mugs or glasses, garnished if desired with lemon and orange slices and basil leaves. 
  4. Serve hot, warm, room temperature, or even chilled.
