ORGANIC INDIA RECEIVES HONORABLE MENTION FROM FAST COMPANY’S 2021 WORLD CHANGING IDEAS FOR FIRST-EVER LEED PLATINUM CERTIFIED FOOD MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN INDIA
IN ENDURING IMPACT: 15+ YEARS IN BUSINESS CATEGORY
Boulder, CO, May 12, 2021 — ORGANIC INDIA is honored to announce that their new LEED Platinum certified facility has been globally recognized by Fast Company’s 2021 World Changing Ideas Awards as a symbol of sustainability achievement. The Lucknow factory manufactures products distributed in over 40 countries and is the first natural food facility to achieve this level of certification in India. This further supports ORGANIC INDIA’s mission to be a vehicle of consciousness in the global marketplace by offering true wellness solutions for healthy, conscious living. The LEED Platinum certification stands as evidence of the company’s commitment to the welfare of its community, the environment, employees and farmer partners.
ORGANIC INDIA Founder Bharat Mitra considers this new factory to be “a beautiful embodiment of the essence of ORGANIC INDIA. On one hand, it has the latest technology and at the same time it was built with awareness and consciousness to the environment.”
Balram Singh, COO of ORGANIC INDIA, describes the team’s holistic perspective. “We aimed for the highest green building standards as it is the ethos of the company to live in harmony with nature and our surroundings. While living up to the global standard of an ecologically compliant building, we also adopted the ancient Indian wisdom of Vaastu Shastra,” a practice that aims to integrate architecture with nature.
“ORGANIC INDIA holds at its core, a dedication to healthy conscious living for all. This commitment holds our company accountable to utilizing practices that are beneficial for people and planet. Our LEED Platinum facility is one example of our mission put into action,” adds Miguel Gil, CEO of ORGANIC INDIA USA.
This LEED certification framework creates healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings, with healthier indoor space, lower use of energy, water and other resources, and is better for building occupants, the community and the environment. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) explains, “Green buildings promote resilience-enhancing designs, technologies, materials, and methods. To support these efforts, green buildings promote the use of durable materials, thoughtful site selection, energy efficiency, onsite renewable generation and more.”
“There is no question our society and planet are facing deeply troubling times. So, it’s important to recognize organizations that are using their ingenuity, impact, design, scalability, and passion to solve these problems,” says Stephanie Mehta, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “Our journalists have discovered some of the most groundbreaking projects that have launched since the start of 2020.”
