Lodhra: Friend to Women
Symplocos racemosa, also known by its Sanskrit name Lodhra, has been valued for thousands of years for supporting women’s reproductive health. Lodhra is a small evergreen shrub that grows in tropical and sub-tropical regions of India.
This plant has also been used historically for wound healing, skin care, and to support a healthy response to inflammation throughout the body.
Lodhra Body and Mind Benefits
In Ayurvedic medicine, excess “pitta,” or heat, contributes to skin disorders. Practitioners believe that Lodhra contributes to skin health by cooling inflammation. This herb is thought to encourage a “firm, healthy body” by reducing fluid retention. The bark powder has been used to encourage wound healing, and tonics made from the flowers have been used to reduce coughs.
