Be A Force Of Good in 1.5 Seconds
How many choices do you make in a day? 10, 100, 1,000?
How about 35,000? According to research, adults make 35,000 conscious decisions each day. That’s one every 1.5 seconds of your waking hours.
Every one of those decisions is a chance to be a Force of Good. To choose who we want to be in the world and shape the environment we live in. Whether it’s what to have for breakfast or what values we believe in, we are deciding between old patterns and new solutions.
And it’s about time for a few decisions, because: We Are At A Crossroads
Scientists have shared the grim news that in just a few decades, the planet will no longer be able to recover from the damage of the last century. Under the banner of progress, we have made our soil unarable, our rivers undrinkable and put thousands of delicate species into extinction. 1% of the population controls 50% of the global resources, and in developing countries like Mother India, the divide between rich and poor is much greater.
Gandhi said to be the change you wish to see in the world. Here is the change. This is our chance.
There Is No “Right Way”
It’s not about choosing between the ‘easy way’ and ‘the right way’; it’s about choosing the thoughtful way. The path that helps heal our planet, our fellow humans and our future.
All over the world, people are standing up to be a Force of Good. Educating themselves on the issues and choosing a better way forward. If you are reading this blog, those people are you.
17 years ago, we saw Indian farmers and their families squandered into squalor by multi-national corporate agriculture. Contracts that could never be fulfilled, widows left begging in the streets, children without access to school or basic healthcare. The only reason things were like this was that there was no other way, until we made one.
The Tulsi plant is our Force of Good. It has been our vehicle for teaching farmers how to grow organically and biodynamically, for getting women jobs and skills to support their families, for helping open clinics and schools. To date, we’ve converted over half a million acres of Indian farmland to organic, and thus helped millions of people discover the benefits of pure, potent Tulsi all over the world.
1.5 Seconds At A Time
We tell you this because we did not start with visions of being a global company. We started wanting to make a difference for a small group of farmers with a small piece of land. That’s all it takes to be a Force of Good: using what you have to make a difference. One choice at a time.
Some people say it’s hard to do the right thing. It is not. It just takes knowing what the right thing is. When people are allowed to see a problem, they choose the solution. Your choices might be reading the labels at the grocery store, supporting Fair Trade, Organic and B-Corp companies. You might offer kindness to a stranger, or to yourself. You, like all humans, were born to be a Force of Good.
This is why the future is bright.
