Fundraisers Worldwide: Tents To Nepal

Our special thanks for the #LoveInAction dedication all those involved in the benefit concerts that have made a significant contribution to our #TentsToNepal offerings!

“Friends of India – Giving back” mobilized the town of Mullumbimby, in Byron Bay, Australia with a wide range of talented local artists on May 16 with a benefit that brought in AUD$20,000 of support. Thanks to Sutara Tapia for organizing, and Rani Willis for creating this inspiring clip with Kira Kay from Hands With Hands for the event Nepal – How we can make a difference.

Internationally renowned musicians Toni Childs, Laura Targett and their special guests rocked Byron Bay’s Crystal Castle on May 30 with the Rebuild Nepal Benefit Concert. AUD$50,000 was generously given to support the relief efforts of 4 organizations, with AUD$10,000 dedicated directly to #TentsToNepal.

Digital Daddy and Vandita Samuel from ORGANIC INDIA produced the event “Always With You” on June 21. This was the first ever dinner and live concert fundraiser in Uttar Pradesh, featuring Indian Rock Band Mooseekah, renowned for their recently released album 'UdChala.'

Our special thanks to Vandita Samuel for all her #LoveInAction efforts in co-ordinating the fundraiser and the India based logistics and operations for #TentsToNepal. Thanks also to ORGANIC INDIA’s photographer, Ashu Singh, for twice making the journey to document #TentsToNepal’s offerings.

Toni Childs visit to Nepal

At the end of July, singer Toni Childs visited Nepal along with family and friends from Crystal Castle to document how the Rebuild Nepal donations have been put to use with the projects of Tents to Nepal, Access Nepal, and Shenzhen Monastery, also to assess where to donate the rest of the money raised.

Renae, Toby, and Mik from the Rebuild Nepal team filmed many interviews and connected with ABARI, Mountain Heart Nepal, Youth Action Nepal, Hugging Nepal, and Rise Nepal during this visit. Here’sthe projects with sensitive insight into the current situation in Nepal:

Rebuild Nepal have sponsored 69 family shelters in Doramba village in the Ramechhap district, 13 shelters In Chitwan, and another 15 In Kavre. Paulo from Friends of India is overseeing activities with Youth Action Nepal operations, and Grassroots Movement In Nepal (GMIN ) the Nepali NGO’s executing these projects.

Rebuild Nepal are also sponsoring the venue for NGO Art2healing Project’s ongoing trainings for 17 local NGO’s, with Friends of India organizing the venue. Art2healing Project’s Founder and Director Atira Tan’s main focus is creative arts therapy to heal trauma, especially with sex traffic victims throughout South East Asia.
