Summer Can Be Spontaneous: 4 Tips to Stay Regular

Is there anything worse than feeling “backed-up” and bloated during the warm summer months? Staying regular is something that many people don’t want to talk about, but it is key to looking and feeling our best.

Digestion has often been referred to as the foundation for good health, and with good reason. If we aren’t digesting our food and having regular bowel movements, we risk feeling tired, bloated, irritable, and gassy.

Don’t let unbalanced digestion happen to you! Here are four ways you can keep things moving this summer, naturally!

Fill up with Fiber

We are all familiar with the benefits of fiber as it relates to keeping us regular. The problem is that most people just aren’t getting enough of this macronutrient in their daily diet. That is one of the reasons why I am such a big fan of ORGANIC INDIA Whole Husk Psyllium. Not only does it promote healthy elimination and regularity, it also works to support the entire digestive system. Psyllium is a wonderful source of both soluble and insoluble fiber, making it a simple way to reduce your chances of feeling constipated.

I recommend adding a tablespoon of ORGANIC INDIA Whole Husk Psyllium to your favorite juice or smoothie recipe. You can even add it to plain water, and with the new ORGANIC INDIA Psyllium Lift Packets, it doesn’t get any easier to incorporate beneficial fiber into your diet.

Level out with lemon water

Believe it or not, the citric acid found in lemon juice can act as a stimulant for your digestive system, helping to get things moving while flushing out unwanted toxins that are stored up in the colon. Lemon water will also ensure that you are getting the fluids your body needs to help flush out whatever is causing you to feel backed up.

I recommend drinking a glass of luke-warm lemon water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Not only does it help me wake up, I find that it helps promote regular elimination, right before I start my busy days. Lemon juice is also packed with vitamin C which has been shown to help promote clear skin…just an added bonus! Use 1/2 of a lemon per glass of warm water for best results.

Keep it traveling with Triphala

One of my favorite supplements to support digestive health, Triphala, works to cleanse and support the entire GI tract. It has been shown to help improve digestion, promote regular elimination and aid in the assimilation of nutrients!

The renowned herbal formula consists of a nourishing blend of three certified organic fruits; amla (amalaki), belleric myrobalan (bibhitaki), and chebulic myrobalan (haritaki). This blend works synergistically to promote a gentle relief of frustrating digestive symptoms you may be experiencing.

Change the way you chew

Headed out to a backyard BBQ? As tempting as it is, try to not dive right in and inhale the food! Sometimes we tend to get overexcited around delicious food. Make sure you get the most out of your dining experiencing by chewing your food thoroughly—tasting every flavor and feeling every texture along the way. Not only does this help keep you present, but it helps immensely with digestion.

Digestion begins in the mouth, and the process of chewing helps to break up the food, allowing us to digest it with ease. If we eat too quickly and swallow bits of food whole, this is when we can experience a variety of digestive issues. Slow down, enjoy the taste, and swallow the food once you’ve really had a chance to chew it up!
